I have lost heat in my Kenmore model 417 front load dryer. The manual says I have to replace a fuse, however the manual doesn't tell me where the fuse is, or what kind of fuse we're talking about. I checked the main panel for the house, nothing was tripped.

Just the numbers 417 in not your model number. There are more numbers after that perhaps a . (dot) and more numbers.

Unplug the unit.
Hi - pry the lid of the dryer up with a putty knife. Two clips get pushed in with putty knife or flat blade and lift up on the top.
On the back right of the wall of the dryer you will see two wires going to a thermal fuse. It about the roundness of a dime but as thick as about 3/4 inch. Take the two wires off. replace that fuse, if its bad.
